Reductil Review

Reductil (generic name: Sibutramine hydrochloride; trade name Meridia in the USA, Raductil, Reduxade, Ectiva, Obestat, Leptos in Europe and other countries) is an oral prescription medication used for the medical management of obesity, including weight loss and the maintenance of weight loss.

it is for the clinically obese, those who are overweight (overweight is a Body Mass Index of over 30) and those whose weight causes medical complications.

Reductil is approved for longer periods of use (12 months or more) and promotes gradual weight loss over longer periods of time. Most weight loss experts agree this method of losing weight is healthier and more effective at producing long-term results.

Reductil- How does it work?

Reductil works by affecting appetite control centers in the brain. This causes you to eat less and results in weight loss. For best results, Reductil should be used together with a low fat diet and moderate exercise supervised by your doctor.

With Reductil, studies have shown that maximal weight loss was achieved by six months and was maintained for up to 24 months. At the end of the 24-month study, 43 per cent of Reductil treated patients maintained greater than or equal to 80 per cent of their original six-month weight loss compared with 16 per cent of patients in the placebo group. However, patients placed on Reductil are warned that they can regain weight when treatment ceases if they do not change their lifestyle. Weight reduction programs that focus on lifestyle change would be recommended as an addition to the use of Reductil.

Reductil - Who can take?

Your doctor will decide whether Reductil is suitable for you. It will only be prescribed if your Body Mass Index (BMI, a person’s weight (in kilograms) divided by the square of his or her height (in metres) is 30 or more or your BMI is 27 or more and you have other weight-related health problems.

Before taking Reductil you need to tell your doctor about any other medication you are taking or if you are allergic to foods, dyes, preservatives or any medication.

Reductil may only be prescribed to patients who have tried to lose weight by diet and exercise for 3 months or more and have been unsuccessful in losing at least 5% of their body weight. It can only be used under the ongoing care of a doctor experienced in the treatment of obesity.

Reductil - How to Take

Reductil should be used in conjunction with a reduced-calorie diet. Taking more exercise is also recommended. The usual dosage is one capsule taken once a day. Reductil capsules should be swallowed whole with a drink in the morning. If you forget to take a dose of Reductil do not take an extra capsule to "make up" for the dose you forgot.

Your doctor will determine how long you should take Reductil. The safety and effectiveness of Reductil have not been determined beyond one (1) year at this time.
