Zimulti (Rimonabant) is a contemplated brand name for Rimonabant.
Rimonabant, a new weight loss drug, is marketed in Europe by the name Acomplia and the same drug will be sold in United States by the name of Zimulti if approved by the FDA.
Zimulti (Rimonabant) is used in conjunction with a balanced, low calorie diet and regular exercise to help overweight people, who suffer from Type 2 diabetes and abnormal levels, lose weight.
This medication helps suppress your appetite by blocking certain chemical pathways within the brain which make you feel hungry. The end result is you eat less and lose weight.
Clinical trials have found that, of those taking 20mg tablets of Zimulti (Rimonabant), a third lost over 10% of their initial body weight, while over 60% lost over 5%. Average waist measurements are reported to have reduced by between 6 and 9 cm (3-4 inches).
Zimulti (Rimonabant) may also help reduce the level of fats in the blood and helps quit smoking.
Zimulti - How to Take
Doctors recommends that 20mg of Zimulti (Rimonabant) dosage is to be swallowed with one glass of water only once daily in the morning before breakfast. It must not be chewed just like other pills.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
Always avoid over dose of Zimulti (Rimonabant).
Zimulti Side Effects
Like other drugs, Zimulti (Rimonabant) may cause a very few side effects, such as stomach upset, sleep disorders, irritability, anxiety, dizziness, nausea, restlessness, muscle cramp amongst others.
These side effects generally go away as soon as one is adjusted to the Zimulti (Rimonabant) drug medication. In case, one suffers from the mentioned side effects for a long span of time, must be seeked immediate medical attention.
Zimulti Precautions
Zimulti (Rimonabant) should not be taken without doctor’s proper advice and examination.
Zimulti (Rimonabant) should not be taken:
- If you are (hypersensitive) allergic to Rimonabant, or any of the other ingredients of Zimulti (Rimonabant);
- If you are breast-feeding.
Tell your doctor before you take this medicine:
- If you have impaired liver;
- If you have severely impaired renal function;
- If you are currently being treated for epilepsy;
- If you are less than 18 years of age. There is no information available on the use of Zimulti (Rimonabant) in people under 18 years of age.
At the recommended dose, Zimulti (Rimonabant) is not expected to reduce your ability to drive and use machines.
